Monday Ministry Minute #25

A Lighthouse to the World

The last few weeks we have been talking about first, being a lighthouse of prayer and outreach to your department on your campus. Then, as lighthouses develop on campuses across the United States, we could see entire disciplines changed. Is it possible that this influence could extend even to the rest of the world?

It is not only possible, it could very well be the strategy God uses to influence some of the most "closed" campuses around the world. It is already happening in many locations around the world.

There are many campuses today where it is impossible to get in the front gate as a Christian missionary. However, one of our colleagues recently walked into one of the most influential Muslim universities because they were invited! What made the difference?

An academic connection, pure and simple. These Arab professors wanted to talk with American professors who had learned to integrate ethics into their academics. As relationships are built, we will be able to share with them where these ethics come from - our relationship with Christ.

These kinds of connections are opening up all over the world. Just imagine the opportunities to influence professors and students on some of the most strategic campuses of the world! It can happen. It is happening.

This May, I will be taking six professors to a closed area. They have been invited to lecture in the fields of engineering, construction, journalism and music. Please pray with us that God will open doors of effective ministry.

Scripture: John 12:46 - "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."

Action Point: Has God laid a particular country or area of the world on your heart? Pray for that country or area, and pray about how God might want to use you as a lighthouse of influence in your discipline there.
