Gay Forever?

The present debate over homosexuality revolves around the question of whether or not it is a natural disposition. Many in socially influential positions have argued that homosexuality is a genetic orientation. Their arguments have met with remarkable success over the past two decades. A significant portion of the population has accepted as fact that homosexual inclinations are rooted in the genetic code of individuals. This rhetorical victory now fuels a movement which seeks to grant homosexual couples the same rights and privileges that heterosexual couples enjoy.

The opposing side in this debate has lost much of the ground that it traditionally held. Nevertheless, it has achieved growing momentum over the last few years, continuing to maintain that homosexuality is not genetically inborn and is therefore changeable. Its primary proof has been the reality of ex-gays. Former homosexuals present a serious threat to those who advocate genetic homosexuality. We shall consider the possibility of gays moving away from their homosexuality and related matters that bear light on this issue.
