William Lane Craig vs. Austin Dacey, Does God Exist? (DVD) Three and a half thousand people gathered in the Elliott Hall of Music on the campus of Purdue Universtity to witness the intellectual collision of two major competing worldviews in American culture: Christianity and secular humanism. In this debate the young atheist philosopher Austin Dacey takes on the noted Christian philosopher and theologian William Lane Craig concerning the question, “Does God Exist?” In this entertaining and yet substantive discussion, Craig presents six arguments on behalf of Christian theism, and Dacey counters with five arguments of his own in support of atheism. Such profound issues as the hiddenness of God, the problem of evil, mind/body dualism, the origin and fine-tuning of the universe, and the resurrection of Jesus come in for critical discussion.
Dr. William Lane Craig is Research Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, California. He is the author of God, Time, and Eternity; Assessing the New Testament Evidence for the Historicity of the Resurrection of Jesus; Philosophical Foundations for a Christian Worldview; and his signature book Reasonable Faith.
Dr. Austin Dacey has lectured and published widely on issues at the intersection of science, religion, ethics, and society. He works for the Center for Inquiry, a think tank affiliated with the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he is a visiting assistant research professor of philosophy. Dacey is also executive editor of Philo, an academic journal specializing in philosophical naturalism; and a contributor to the magazines Skeptical Inquirer and Free Inquiry.

William Lane Craig vs. Gert Ludemann, Did Jesus Rise from the Dead? The declaration by the German theologian Gerd Lüdemann, that Jesus’ resurrection is a fiction and that Christianity had better learn to get along without it, lit fires of controversy in Europe and marked the emergence of Lüdemann as the foremost critic of the historicity of Jesus’ resurrection. In this debate at Boston College, philosopher-theologian William Lane Craig challenges Lüdemann’s Hallucination Hypothesis and argues for the superiority of the Resurrection Hypothesis on the basis of standard criteria of historical criticism. This debate formed the basis for the book Jesus’ Resurrection: Fact or Figment? (IVP, 2000), in which prominent scholars of opposite views respond to the exchange. See the movie, then read the book!
