Water Project-Iran -1
"This is a water project I did for the National
Plan Organization in Iran. There was a spring on the side of a mountain from
which three villages obtained water. These Kurdish villages in Western Iran
were "in the middle of nowhere." There were no roads to them and we
could only reach them by fording rivers and climbing steep mountains in our
Jeep.
The spring was drying up and while the Plan Organization
officials in Kermanshaw, the main city in Western Iran, were not interested
in getting involved with villages, they were willing to give me a small amount
of money for materials and a laborer as I donated my time and engineering skills.
One needs to remember that villagers were considered
slightly higher than animals among some of the educated Iranians so little or
no money for development was spent on them. This picture shows some of the villagers
with their chief around the site of the spring.
