Dr. Ramon (Ray) Goforth has a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial and Mechanical
Engineering from Southern Methodist University, 1955, 1961 and a Ph.D. in Mechanical
Engineering (Solid Mechanics and Materials Science) from the University of Texas
at Arlington, 1974. Dr. Goforth served two years as an officer in the U.S. Air
Force, and fifteen years as an Engineer, Project Engineer and Acting Chief of
Advanced Manufacturing Technology at LTV Aerospace Corporation before accepting
a faculty position at Texas A&M University in 1975. Dr. Goforth's fields are
materials engineering, manufacturing processes and deformation processing of
materials. In 1998, he was honored for his teaching by having a "Fish Camp"
named for him. Dr. Goforth is semi-retired (half-time teaching) and has been
named an emeritus professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at TAMU.
